Although it has not been proven or at least not published as proven, many people want to stay away from using manufactured deodorants and antiperspirants because they contain aluminum and are suspected to possibly lead to breast cancer. Here is a simple recipe for making your own deodorant from household products.
1/2 cup cornstarch, arrowroot powder or bentonite clay
1/2 cup baking soda
1-2 drops of your favorite perfume or essential oil. Sweet orange, grapefruit or lavender are nice. Also rosewaters.
Optional: Coconut Oil
You cannot mix the witch hazel in with the powdered ingredients, so take a cotton swab, pour some witch hazel on it and rub in all over your armpit area. Let it dry, do not wash it off. It helps to close pores and disinfect odors.
Mix the powders together in a jar with a lid and add a couple drops of scented oil or perfume (if you want). Shake them up to mix them and keep a lid on so they will absorb the scented oil. Splash a bit of powder under each arm after you cleanse with the witch hazel. Keep the powdered mix handy so you have it ready when you need it daily.
To make this more like a cream, add enough coconut oil to the powders to make it the consistency you want. Then you can also add the witch hazel to it.
